Coping and living with kidney failure

Coping and living with kidney failure

When you are not feeling well it is easy to feel angry with others, even those who are close to you and that you love.

How you feel can affect your health. You may feel so depressed or anxious, for instance, that you do not follow your diet, or do not take prescribed medications.

Tips for coping:

  • talk to others-to the people you love, to other kidney patients or to staff at your renal center
  • see yourself as a whole person, not just someone who has kidney failure
  • set realistic goals
  • try to keep a sense of humor
  • have faith
  • stay fit and keep active
